Research Projects

Funded research and consultancy across five active domains.

Most faculty members at TSBS hold funded research projects, with research and consultancy spanning immunology, genomics, environmental biotechnology, plant biotechnology and bioinformatics.

Active research domains

  • Immunology — infection biology, apoptosis-driven infection and cell biology.
  • Genomics — molecular genetics and genomic analysis.
  • Environmental biotechnology — bioremediation, biofuel and bioplastic research.
  • Plant biotechnology — plant genetic engineering, metabolomics and volatolomics.
  • Bioinformatics — computational analysis supporting the wet-lab programme.

Faculty publish in reputed SCI and SCI-E indexed journals. Research proposals are submitted to national funding agencies including DBT (Department of Biotechnology) and DST (Department of Science & Technology).

Planned growth

Under the Institutional Development Plan, the research portfolio scales from an initial submission of 5–10 research proposals in 2025–26 toward a sustained programme of funded, industry-linked and internationally collaborative projects by 2030.

5–10Research proposals submitted (2025–26)
2–3Funded projects (2026–27)
15–20Funded projects by 2030
